Meningococcal meningitis, a form of meningococcal disease, is a serious bacterial infection that can lead to severe brain damage or potentially kill an otherwise healthy young person within just one day after the first symptoms appear. The high-risk age groups affected are mainly infants and young children because they cannot easily fight the infection due to underdeveloped immune system.
From what I understand, meningococcal disease is hard to recognize, especially in its early stages, because the symptomps are quite similar to common viral illnesses. Thus, as parents who need to put our children's health as top priority, we need to be equipped with the right information about Invasive Meningococcal Disease (IMD) as unlike more common illnesses this particular disease can progress really quickly and may cause death or disability in just a single day!
Now that you know a little bit about IMD and the potential dangers it carries, why not you find out in details about this disease and how to prevent it from a reliable source?
Paeditrician Dr. Yong Junina Fadzil will be discussing the impact of IMD, how it spreads and what can be done to prevent this disease in a thorough manner at the 24 Hours Can Change Your Life: A Discussion about IMD talk in Kuala Lumpur in a couple of weeks' time.
