Pregnancy Week 4: Doctor's Advice

We found out that I was about 4 weeks pregnant more than a couple weeks ago and with this, I intend to keep week-by-week pregnancy journal to record my weekly pregnancy symptoms, advices and pictures.

Yes! I am pregnant!

Pregnancy symptoms and titbits at week 4:

  • Missed my period
  • Menstrual-like abdominal cramping for few days. Doctor says this is because the uterus is making a room for the baby.
  • Backache
  • Sore breasts
  • Light-headedness
  • Constipation
  • Major sleepiness
  • Loss of  interest in many things including blogging and baking, which usually fill my days.

After confirming my pregnancy to my Gynae, here are some advices that she gave to me when I found out that I was pregnant:

  • Live my life as normal as possible. Do normal activities and do not treat pregnancy as sickness
  • Be mentally prepared as my body is going to change a lot
  • Stay away from alcohol, smoke, second-hand smoke, OTC drugs and eat limited amount of papaya and pineapples
  • Don't rub medicated oil or any pain relief patches on my stomach as the chemical can be absorbed and may hurt the baby

After I learned that I was pregnant, I have limited my travelling activities and those include me cancelled a week fun family trip with my parents and siblings to Thailand and excused myself from running a conference in Jakarta next month. The whole idea is to minimize fatigue and avoid tension during these early pregnancy days. Moreover, some people say, we shall wait until we cross the third month of our pregnancy before travelling overseas, right? I obeyed.

Doctor bill: RM 207 (For Gynae's consultation fee, test pack, medicines to promote stronger uterus/progesterone). Seemingly, the medicines to promote stronger uterus are very expensive! Meanwhile, I also take 5mg of folic acid on daily basis.
