Making Steamed Pumpkin Rice

Growing up, my husband always ate home-cooked meals. Hence, he expects me to learn some of his favorite Chinese dishes directly from his favorite chef, his Mom. My first lesson was to cook the Steamed Pumpkin Rice. I was supposed to learn how to cook this from my Mom-in-Law but she was away. So I ended up cooking this rice with my Sister-in-Law who has more experience in cooking Chinese dishes.

It was quite simple dish to make and the preparations just need a lot of cuttings.

White rice
Belly Pork, cut into cubes
Chinese dried mushrooms, sliced and mix with white sugar
Dried prawns, soaked in water for 15 minutes
Garlics, cut into small pieces
Pumpkin, cut into big cubes
Cooking oil

Dark soy sauce
Light soy sauce
Sesame oil

Stir all ingredients in the wok, including the cleaned white rice until the mix is dry.

Put the rice mix in the magic jar and add water.

The final result after steamed.

I love this dish! Too bad, I didn't have the chance to taste this myself since my husband and I were attending a wedding dinner that night.

I have so many more dishes to learn but didn't manage to learn that much. Moreover, holiday is over real soon. Help! I want more holidays.... Holidays are just never enough.
