Movie Review: Slumdog Millionaire

Following our team outing to Batam last week, most of the committee members have decided to have group movie outing today. Therefore, we decided to watch the Oscar-winning "Slumdog Millionaire" at Cine. Initially I was a bit reluctant to catch it due to my previous lame experience with the Indian flick that I caught some time ago. But all people I know who already watched this movie had strongly reccomended me to watch this one. Definitely won't be a disappointing show, they claimed. Now I can see why it deserves Oscar.

The movie tells about the harsh childhood life of Jamal Malik, a street child from the Dharavi slums in India, who happened to win the staggering 20 Millions Rupees in the Who Wants to be a Millionaire show.

The movie addresses a lot of real-life upsetting situations in most of the slums in India, street children syndicate in India, destiny, bravery, honesty, determination and love. I'd give 4/5 stars for the impressive plot and all the humanity values that were successfully conveyed in the flick.
