The Lamented Aphrodite

Brazilian Model Who Lost Hands and Feet Dies

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - One month ago, 20-year-old beauty queen, Mariana Bridi, was living the dream of many young Brazilian women, trading her striking good looks for a modeling career that promised to lift her family out of poverty.

Then, she contracted a seemingly ordinary urinary tract infection. The bacteria spread quickly and inexorably through her body, proving to be extremely drug resistant. In a desperate bid to save her life, doctors amputated her hands and feet. But by Saturday she was dead.

It was only last night when I checked on Yahoo! News about this pitiful Brazilian supermodel. She had to be amputated due to her lethal disease. I instantly felt sorry for her. Today the news says she had passed away.

She was so young. She was beautiful. She was blessed with beauty that Greek Goddesses may envy. She had the whole world in her hands. Her life was just about to start when her life was suddenly taken away.

God gave her immaculate physique that other mortals may not fortunate enough to possess. But God also claimed everything back in seconds when she tragically had to lose her hands and feet, and in spite of all, her life.

Why her?

Only God knows why. We may seem to have everything today but tomorrow everything may not be the same.

Psalm 139:16 says, "You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!"
